Moments later to the utter amazement of everyone, dude returned in fetters accompanied by policemen & Bank staff

Lagos Police On Trail Of Robbers Who Hypnotise Victims In Commercial Buses

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday said it was on the trail of some suspected criminals using handkerchief containing some substances to hypnotise people before robbing them of their valuables.
The command’s spokesman, Kenneth Nwosu, made the disclosure in an interview while reacting to the command’s efforts to curb the criminal activity.
“The Lagos police are on the same page with the state government in fighting crime and criminality. We have devised strategies to check the suspected criminals.
“We want people in Lagos to be security conscious and be at alert, particularly in commercial vehicles.
“Members of the public should report suspected persons to the police.
“Transporters are advised to check this trend among their members and routes of operations”, Mr. Nwosu advised.
The state government on Wednesday alerted residents on a new dimension of criminal activities in parts of the state perpetrated by men of the underworld.

Woman Accused Of Witchcraft Axed To Death In Papua New Guinea – Missionary

Police in Papua New Guinea vowed to find the men who axed to death a woman accused of using witchcraft to spark a measles outbreak in the country’s remote jungle highlands, a missionary said on Wednesday after meeting authorities. Reuters was there:

The woman, Mifila, was one of four women accused with 13 of their family members of using sorcery to cause measles deaths last November in the village of Fiyawena, in Enga province, said Lutheran missionary Anton Lutz.
Women are often accused and killed in witch hunts even though laws passed in 2013 make revenge killings over black magic punishable by death. Human Rights Watch earlier this year named Papua New Guinea as one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a woman due to gender based violence.

NEMA confirms 29 deaths in Gombe explosions

The National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday confirmed that 29 persons were killed in Wednesday’s attacks at two motor parks in Gombe.

The information officer of the agency in Gombe State, Umar Madigawa, in a message to our correspondent, said the explosion at Dadin Kowa motor park occurred at 7:15pm on Wednesday and that of Dukku motor park happened shortly after that, at 8:30pm.

He said 17 of the bodies recovered from the explosion sites were deposited at Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, and 67 injured persons taken for treatment.

At the Specialists Hospital in Gombe, according to him, 12 other corpses were deposited with 38 persons taken there to be treated.

He said 29 persons were killed in the explosions that left 105 injured.

Hackers Take Control Of Internet Enabled Jeep Driving On The Highway

A pair of security experts showed the dangers of a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles security flaw by taking control of a Jeep on the highway. Security experts Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek said they used a laptop computer and a cellphone on the Sprint network to exploit a security hole in Fiat Chrysler’s Uconnect Internet-enabled software to disable the engine and brakes on a Jeep Cherokee while Wired reporter Andy Greenberg was driving on a stretch of highway in St. Louis. Buhari Approves N804.7bn Relief Package For States

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a bailout for Nigerian states, many of which have not been able to pay workers salaries for months.

According to Vanguard sources, President Buhari approved a three-pronged relief package including sharing of fresh allocations, granting of soft loans and restructuring of states’ debt-servicing payments. The packages are expected to go into effect this week.

About $2.1b (N413.7bn) will be shared in fresh allocation between the states and the federal government.

Archaeologists find 2,600-year-old Celtic Princess in Germany

Celtic Princess who died in 609 BC unearthed

 German archaeologists discovered a Celtic grave in the Danube heartland when they found the remains of a Celtic princess, from 2,600 years ago, buried with her gold and amber jewelry.

The princess had remained in her final resting place since about 609BC. Just months ago the German experts began to dig out the 80 tonnes of clay covering the grave to remove it bring it their offices where it could be examined.

Experts believe that the manner that she was buried, with expensive jewels, shows that she was of a high social rank. The brooches found are particularly beautiful with Celtic designs in gold and amber. According to BBC reports the remains of a child were also found in the grave.
